Impression
The dentist takes an impression of the prepared teeth and the surrounding gums, which is used to create a custom-made crown or bridge in a dental laboratory.

Temporary restoration
A temporary crown or bridge may be placed to protect the prepared teeth and maintain the shape of the gums while the permanent restoration is being made.

Placement
